Statement from Co-Founder Aaren Tei Ona-Lovett
At Lovett & Co, we believe that every person deserves to be treated with dignity, respect and professionalism.
Recently, one of our team members was subjected to a comment suggesting they were "too white to be Aboriginal." While some may see comments like this as harmless, they can be deeply hurtful and contribute to the ongoing stereotypes that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people face.
Aboriginality is not determined by skin colour. There is no single way an Aboriginal person should look.
As a business, we will not tolerate racism, discrimination or behaviour that questions or undermines a person's identity, culture or heritage. We are committed to providing a safe, respectful and inclusive environment for our staff, clients, partners and community.
If any member of our team experiences discrimination or culturally unsafe behaviour while representing Lovett & Co, they will have our full support and we will take appropriate action to address the matter.
Respect costs nothing. Understanding starts with education. Inclusion starts with listening.
We stand with our people. Always.
